Text über den Künstler - English
Thilo Jenssen recovers the Finish Fetish movement of the ‘60s in California, which dealt with perfect surfaces in other words the negation of the painterly and of the image as an image. His images focus on these moments that differ from perfection as he does not introduce the gesture but reintroduces the painting process - and the image as an image. At the same time the illusion of the surface is constantly broken. A certainty, a stability is hard to accomplish and they merely function as a momentary state between before and after.
(quot. Bernhard Balkenhol)
