Michaela Maths zarte Bleistiftzeichnungen präsentieren sich solcherart als Verdichtung von Befindlichkeiten, in denen vielfältige Stimmungen und Anregungen zum Ausdruck gelangen. Auf äußerst subtile und poetische Weise bezeichnet sie körperliche Gesten, ornamentale Strukturen und organische Formen, die zwischen Sichtbarem und Unsichtbarem, dem Erkennbaren und dem Unbestimmten oszillieren.

Michaela Math’s artistic work consists of drawing, sculpture and installation. Her obsessive pencil-drawing on paper or in-situ on exhibition walls is as delicately performed as it is bold in content. It deals with identity, sexuality and aggression (self-portraits, animals like dogs or snakes, organs) as well as with dreamlike, sensitive landscapes and finely spun spider’s nets, which may grow into room-filling installations. She is also working with language and introduces her personal moods, biographical facts and experiences as well as the subconscious into the drawing. In a most poetic way she is dealing with the body, ornamental and organic forms that always bear a touch of the uncanny in the twilights in-between the visible and the invisible, the discernable and the uncertain.
