Text über den Künstler - English
Michaela Math's artistic work consists of drawing, sculpture and installation. Her obsessive pencil-drawing on paper or in-situ on exhibition walls is as delicately performed as it is bold in content. It deals with identity, sexuality and aggression (self-portraits, animals like dogs or snakes, organs) as well as with dreamlike, sensitive landscapes and finely spun spiders nets, which may grow into room-filling installations. She is also working with language and introduces her personal moods, biographical facts and experiences as well as the subconscious into the drawing. In a most poetic way she is dealing with the body, ornamental and organic forms that always bear a touch of the uncanny in the twilights in-between the visible and the invisible, the discernable and the uncertain.
